Tanaka Saki was born in Aomori Prefecture in 1995. She graduated from Akita University of Art in 2018. Tanaka completed her studies at Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo (Craft Studio) in 2024 and currently works at Araya Glass Studio in Akita City while conducting her artistic activities based in Akita. In 2022, she won the Grand Prize at both the “International Glass Exhibition Kanazawa 2022″ and the “2022 Kogei World Competition in Kanazawa.” In 2023, Tanaka received the MUFG Special Award at “Forbes JAPAN 30 UNDER 30.” Her works are held in the collections of the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa and Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo.
“The sharp tension given by thin glass, the soft forms created when glass is transformed by the natural forces of heat and gravity, and the way light passes through and reflects on those surfaces. When people’s sensibilities encounter my artistic expression illustrated through glass, I hope they may glimpse the deeper meaning of what it means to find something beautiful.”
