Yamazaki Moeco was born in Tokyo in 1990. She graduated from Musashino Art University. Yamazaki is based in Yonaguni Island and Tokyo. Using traditional Ryukyu paper techniques from Okinawa, she develops two-dimensional, three-dimensional, and installation works. She continues her practice of making paper from plants native to various locations both domestically and internationally, and printing photographs taken on-site. Her major solo exhibitions include “Tearing Open the Ink Sac” (Gallery Sora no Ma, 2024), “Drift Across the Sea” (MITSUKOSHI CONTEMPORARY GALLERY, Tokyo, 2024), and “Within” (SUKIMA GALLERY, 2023).
