Mizutani Nao was born in Aichi Prefecture in 1990. She completed the Master’s program in Chōkin (metal chasing and engraving) at the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts, in 2016. After working as a jewelry designer at a company and serving as an education and research assistant in the Chōkin Laboratory at Tokyo University of the Arts, she continues to create while serving as an assistant professor in the Faculty of Art and Design at Bunka Gakuen University. She received the Grand Prize at the Japan Jewellery Art Exhibition. Characterized by multifaceted, crystal-like forms finely crafted using chōkin techniques, her work ranges from wearable ornaments to objects such as boxes and flower vessels—small constructions that change their expression as they catch the light.
