Tsumori Hidenori

Tsumori Hidenori was born in Tokyo in 1986. He graduated from Tama Art University in 2012 and from Toyama Institute of Glass Art in 2014. Tsumori completed his studies at Kanazawa Utatsuyama Kogei Kobo (Craft Studio) in 2017. He creates works using a unique material that combines glass and clay, reading the expressions and movements generated through heat. His inspiration comes from feelings of wonder and reverence for the transformation of natural phenomena over vast periods of time. Tsumori pursues expressions and forms that draw out the latent charm of materials. His major solo exhibitions include “Falling into You – Hidenori Tsumori” at A Lighthouse called Kanata in 2021. His major awards include the Grand Prize at International Glass Exhibition Kanazawa 2019 and the Second Prize at 2022 Kogei World Competition in Kanazawa. His works are held in major collections including the Victoria & Albert Museum, 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa, and Kyoto City Museum of Art.
