Koji Hatakeyama

Hatakeyama was born in Takaoka City, Toyama Prefecture in 1956. He graduated from the Craft Department at Kanazawa College of Art with a major in Metal Casting in 1980. His major awards include the 11th Takashimaya Art Award presented by the Takashimaya Cultural Foundation (2000), Sano-Rennaisance Metal Art Casting Grand Prize (2007), MOA Okada Mokichi Award MOA Museum of Art Award (2012), and the 1st Asian Contemporary Art Award Grand Prize / Asian Art Fair London (2023). His works are held in collection at institutions such as the British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, National Museum of Scotland, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris, and the National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo.
