Genta Ishizuka

Ishizuka was born in Kyoto Prefecture in 1982. In 2008, he completed his MA in Urushi Lacquering at the Department of Crafts at Kyoto City University of Arts Graduate School. Since 2007, he has been presenting works at solo exhibitions and participating in group exhibitions both domestically and internationally, including “Visionaries: Making Another Perspective” (Kyoto City KYOCERA Museum of Art) in 2023, “4th Triennale of KOGEI in Kanazawa: Transcending Boundaries” (21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art, Kanazawa) in 2019, and “Hard Bodies” (Minneapolis Institute of Art) in 2017. His major awards include the Encouragement Prize at the Kyoto Prefecture Cultural and Arts Award in 2024, the Grand Prize at the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize 2019, and the Kyoto City Arts Newcomer Award. His works are held in collection at institutions such as the British Museum, Minneapolis Institute of Art, and Victoria and Albert Museum.
